Lost Province Events for April 18 – 23, 2017
Tuesday, April 18 At 5 pm we will be hosting a ‘Cheap Date Night’ Dinner and a Movie. In honor of Craft Beer Month, we’ll be showing Strange Brew, starting at 7:30 pm. The cheap date night dinner special includes one pizza, 2 mixed green salads and two pints of beer for only $25!
Wednesday, April 19 From 7pm-9pm we will be hosting another trivia night! Compete on your own or on a team! The competition gets started at 7 pm, so come a little early for a seat, pizza, and a pint!
Thursday, April 20 We will be having $3.00 pints on all Lost Province brewed beers (except high gravity). From 7:30-Closing we will also be hosting ‘College Night’ featuring Live Music with Lucas Triba.
With one more semester left to obtain his Bachelor’s Degree in Classical Guitar Performance at App State, Lucas Triba is currently working on an EP to be released Summer ’17. His unique, youthful sound entails covers from many decades and originals from many hardships dipping musical footnotes into free-flowing funky improv and spanning a variety of styles from Folk, Reggae, Soul, Bluegrass, Jazz, to etc.
Friday, April 21 7:30pm-Closing Live Music: Major Sevens Duo.
The Major Sevens Duo has performed frequently throughout the High Country since 2006. Featuring guitarist Brooks Forsyth and fiddler Drayton Aldridge, the duo combines the blue ridge musical traditions of Doc Watson with country blues, tin pan alley swing tunes, and folksy originals. Combining musical proficiency with soulful harmonies and timeless tunes, the duo puts on an engaging show for music lovers of all stripes. Major Sevens Duo is Drayton Aldridge and Brooks Forsyth.
Saturday, April 22 From 7:30-Closing we will have Live Music: Fireside Collective.
Winners of the 2016 Merlefest Band Competition, Fireside Collective is quickly blazing a name for themselves as a must-see progressive acoustic ensemble. Formed in 2014, Fireside Collective is a group of folk music enthusiasts who blend elements of traditional bluegrass and American roots music with modern acoustic arrangements. With an energetic live show, the band presents finely crafted original music infused with impeccable solos and tight harmonies. Captivating listeners with songs that are centered around change, relationships, and being on the road, they transition smoothly between danceable bluegrass numbers and passionate folk ballads. With Jesse Iaquinto on mandolin, Tommy Maher on Dobro, Joe Cicero on acoustic guitar, and Carson White holding down the groove with upright bass, Fireside Collective delights in tastefully exploring the boundaries of roots music.
Sunday, April 23 Lost Province Sunday: Residents of “The Lost Province” (Watauga, Ashe, Avery and Alleghany) receive 10% off food with verification of residency.
12:00-2pm Live Music: The Flat Fives Jazz Band.
The Flat Fives Jazz Quintet is a group made up of five App State students who share a love for jazz. Providing entertainment and becoming better musicians are the goals of the group. The members are Rob McCormac on trumpet, Aaron West on saxophone, Matt Guard on piano, David Murray on bass, and Will Whitehurst on drums.
