Owner and Executive Chef Sam Ratchford is a native of the Boone area, who attended culinary school at New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, Vermont. After a few years as a sous chef in Park City Utah, Sam returned to High Country to be near his family and become the first Executive chef at Storie Street Grille in Blowing Rock. Alyce moved to Boone from Asheville in the fall of 2000 to attend Appalachian State University studying Special Education and Psychology. They met each other while working together at Storie Street, Sam as chef and Alyce as a front of house manager. In early 2008 Sam and Alyce purchased Vidalia from their friends, Michael and Camille Vetro. Vidalia was already a concept of which Sam and Alyce could make their own, so there were only a few tweeks made after the purchase. Sam focuses on using as much local and seasonal products as possible year round. In early 2015, they renovated the exsisting restaurant to add a bar and more seating.

Join us for our “Dig into Local” nightly event with the North Carolina Agricultural Department. Featured will be a three course menu with tapas portions for $34 per person every dinner service throughout the month of August. All the dishes will feature local North Carolina agricultural products!
